Why?Adding colour to your garden can be difficult at this time of the year but these little gems will give you that much-needed boost with their showy little flowers and glossy, marbled foliage.
Where? Cycalmen enjoy a shady spot and look stunning planted at the base of trees or large shrubs!
When? Plant your cycalmen now in groups to create a wonderful autumn display
Why? Heathers are synonymous with Yorkshire! They look fantastic and are a wonderful source of late nectar for the bees at this time of the year too!
Where? Heathers prefer full sun and well-drained, acidic soil but will cope with semi shade! They are perfect for ground cover and look great in groups to give a tapestry of texture and coulour!
When? Anytime! Heathers are perfect all year round as you can get Winter, Spring and Summer flowering varieties.
Why? I really love this grass and it's beautiful plumes that stand all winter! It's a real favourite of mine and works very well with my pick from last month - Rudbeckia!
Where? Miscanthus works fantastic at the back of a border due to the fact that it gets very big! But it can provide a eye-catching winter focal point!
Care? Remember to remove any dead stems and tatty foliage in the Spring to help give the plant chance to rejuvenate!
