Important Announcement | Grass Hoppers

Following the announcement to implement a social distancing strategy to suppress the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak, we have taken the decision to close Grass Hoppers today until further notice.

In addition, we have also introduced measured spacing in the Restaurant to ensure a suitable distance is maintained and ask that all guests respect this move.

The rest of the garden centre and the Food Hall will remain open at this stage as we continue to monitor the situation closely.

Please be assured that our team are already in the process of contacting you if:

  • you have booked a play session at Grass Hoppers
  • you have a birthday party booked at Grass Hoppers

If you have any additional questions at this stage, we ask that you contact the garden centre by email to

We do ask for your patience and we will of course work as quickly as we can to resolve all customer enquiries as promptly as possible.

We will continue to publish any updates on our social media sites so please do follow us if you would like to remain informed.

We do hope that you and your families stay well in these worrying and unprecedented times.

After careful consideration of the current circumstances, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our Learn with Joe event planned for Saturday 21st March 2020 and Weber BBQ event planned for Thursday 21st May 2020.

Given the deteriorating situation with regards to the current outbreak of the Coronavirus, we feel it would be inappropriate to hold this event as our first consideration has to be to the safety and welfare of our customers and team. Customers who have already booked for the Weber BBQ event will be contacted shortly.

We hope all our customers can stay safe during these unprecedented times.

We aim to make this environment/our centre as safe as possible during these challenging times and will continue to do so until further notice and pending any government advice.

As a large open space with outdoor areas to shop, we hope, with the measures already in place, that we can remain a low risk place for you to visit.

  • Cleaning and sanitising frequently throughout the day
  • Measured spacing in the restaurant to increase the distance between tables
  • Measured spacing at tills
  • Contactless and card payments where possible to limit personal contact
  • Handwashing best practice in place and alcohol-based sanitisers available to all our team
  • Deep cleans throughout the centre
  • Closure of Grass Hoppers
  • Events cancelled to prevent social gathering
  • Encouraging home working for our office-based team
  • Limited contact with inbound deliveries to our warehouse

We know you will fully understand the action we are required to take in light of government announcements regarding the suppression of the coronavirus pandemic but may have some questions. We have provided a Q&A section below which we hope will answer many of the specific questions you may have.
